History: The Aztecs lived, worked and fought in a very structured society. Seldom did anyone move from the class into which they were born. The priests were the upper class, followed by the warriors and artisans. The general public went about their lives fulfilling their destiny mostly by performing their assigned chores with efficiency and obedience to the Emperor, the priests and the gods. From the very beginning of their history, the Aztecs were known as fierce warriors. Just under the elite Eagle and Jaguar Knights were the orders of the Otontin and Cuahchicqueh or "shorn ones". The single lock of hair was tied close to their otherwise shaven head so that it would wave above them in battle to intimidate the enemy.
